ABOUT

IMG_8103_edited.jpg

Hi, my name's Renée and I'm a trained Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) dedicated to helping teens and adults navigate through periods of life transition and personal growth. With your personal expertise and my professional experience, I work to create a space that feels safe to share and explore as we figure out how to build your inner compass, balance your nervous system, and navigate the path ahead.

life transitions

When life brings you to a crossroads or into unfamiliar territory, EMBARK provides a grounded space to pause, reflect, and consider what comes next. Times of change often surface both new challenges and long-held fears, making even hopeful transitions feel overwhelming. I work to remind clients that they don’t have to navigate change alone—and that clarity and forward movement can emerge, even when the way ahead feels uncertain.

Examples:

  • Starting or ending important relationships

  • Changing careers, roles, or direction

  • Moving or experiencing major lifestyle shifts

  • Navigating loss, illness, or health changes

  • Entering a new life stage or identity

  • Re-evaluating beliefs, values, or purpose

PERSONAL GROWTH

The experiences of our lives make up a larger story in which we are the main character, ever evolving, learning, and adapting to our environments. EMBARK is a place to explore your experiences, gain insights, and develop the tools to navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience. Personal growth is a journey of understanding yourself, healing from past wounds, and discovering new ways to show up in your life and relationships.

Examples:

  • Understanding yourself and your strengths

  • Setting boundaries and caring for your needs

  • Healing from trauma and building resilience

  • Releasing unhelpful patterns or beliefs

  • Improving relationships

  • Living in alignment with your values

MY APPROACH

core focuses:

  • Creating your inner compass
    (developing self-understanding, values, and self-trust)

  • Building meaningful relationships
    (communication, boundaries, and connection)

  • Releasing unhelpful patterns
(anxiety cycles, avoidance, procrastination, and critical inner dialogue)

  • Strengthening resilience and nervous-system regulation
(learning how to feel more calm, present, and emotionally balanced)

NARRATIVE therapy

The stories we tell ourselves our a powerful thing. They can work both for or against us. At EMBARK, I help clients to better understand their inner narratives and decide on what parts they might want to rewrite or take in a new direction going forward. The pen doesn't always feel like its in our hands. This work is about exploring different ways to pick it back up and take control of the story we want to write.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is a structured approach to therapy that helps us understand how experiences are shaped by the interplay between thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and the situations we encounter. These four components are deeply interconnected, which means that even small shifts in one area—like changing a thought—can create meaningful changes in the others. In therapy, I use this framework to help you explore and address your concerns while providing practical tools, exercises, and skill-building strategies that support lasting growth.

EVOLUTIONARY-based approach

Evolution-based therapy explores how our evolutionary past continues to shape how we think, feel, and respond in the modern world. While many of these adaptations are still helpful, others are mismatched to today’s environments, which can lead to distress or confusion. At EMBARK, I help clients bring these unconscious survival patterns into awareness so they can work with their biology—rather than against it—and adapt in ways that better meet their present-day needs.

SENSORY-ENHANCED YOGA FOR SELF-REGULATION AND TRAUMA HEALING

With a certification in Sensory-Enhanced Yoga® for Self-Regulation and Trauma Healing, I integrate neurobiological insights and sensory-based practices to help support clients in rebalancing their nervous system and feeling more grounded in themselves.

Sensory-Informed Yoga is a trauma-aware approach that uses gentle movement, sensory awareness, and mindfulness to support nervous system regulation and healing. In sessions this might look like simple guided yoga exercises on a chair or the floor (if preferred) or discussions about the nervous system and how it connects to our emotional and physical experiences.

strengths-based APPROACH

At EMBARK Psychotherapy, our focus extends beyond the challenges and barriers ahead to include the strengths and supports we uncover—or rediscover—along the way. Together, we explore your unique skills, the ways your environment can support you, and what serves as your northern star when things seem uncertain. These reflections help us create a meaningful roadmap toward growth, resilience, and a deeper sense of peace.
